This Tuesday, the Colombian government dispatched a plane loaded with solidarity assistance from the air base of the Military Transport Air Command (CATAM), in Bogotá, bound for the Republic of Cuba. The cargo, consisting of a significant supply of food, medicines and essential medical supplies, has the fundamental purpose of alleviating the shortages faced by the island's population.

This action is part of a strategy of humanitarian support to counteract the difficulties arising from the economic blockade imposed by the United States (USA).

The senator and co-president of the Historical Pact, Gloria Flórez, stressed that this shipment is the result of an articulated effort between the national government, various social organizations and multiple houses of solidarity. According to the congresswoman, the initiative not only responds to a logistical need, but also represents a political gesture of great value to strengthen the historic ties that unite both nations.

The deployment of this aid underlines the commitment of Colombian social forces to the well-being of the Cuban people at a time of special vulnerability.

During the dispatch ceremony, Flórez emphasized that this flight is essential to continue weaving bonds of brotherhood and unity in the region. The parliamentarian pointed out that Latin America and the Caribbean maintain an active willingness to offer their best in solidarity actions, recognizing the cumulative impact that Cuba has suffered after the passage of hurricanes last year.

He also stressed that the current conditions on the island have been aggravated by the reinforcement of unilateral coercive measures that limit their access to basic resources.

Finally, this gesture of binational cooperation reaffirms Colombia's position towards a foreign policy based on solidarity and regional integration. With the arrival of these medical and food supplies, it is expected to strengthen the primary care system in Cuba and provide immediate relief to the communities most affected by the supply crisis.

The Colombian Government and the organizations involved confirmed that this is another step in the consolidation of a united Caribbean bloc in the face of economic and climatic adversities affecting the region.
