Colombians mobilize against President Petro's coup

This Friday in Colombia, the Historical Pact called for mobilizations to defend democracy and support President Gustavo Petro after the National Electoral Council (CNE), two years after being sworn in, filed charges against him for alleged irregularities during the campaign.

In statements offered to Colombian media, they called on citizens to defend in the streets “the popular mandate that we handed over together with millions of Colombians and Colombians to President Gustavo Petro”.

“We are going to tell the corrupt, to those who want to disrespect Colombia's democracy, that they will not pass,” said the senator of the Historical Pact, María José Pizarro.

“We respond to the persecution with more rights and mobilization. Change is unstoppable!” , said the senate, Gloria Flórez, of Humana Colombia, during the call before the popular sectors.
