From the Miraflores Palace, August 8, 2009, the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, during an exchange of questions and answers with the press, spoke about the threats against Venezuelan territory by the United States (USA).
The journalist for the Colombian media RCN, Victoria “Vicky” Dávila, questioned the possibility of a war, to which the Bolivarian leader replied that “But don't you see? Don't you see the threat that the United States empire is to us? Do you know how many wars? Do you know how many wars the United States has generated? You know, I was in the deserts of Iran and Iraq and I asked both of them: the Iranians and the Iraqis, why you fought so hard here for eight years and killed each other with the knife, and both of you said to me: the United States put us to fight.”
He also highlighted that in our country there is the largest oil reserve on this planet. “Here in Venezuela, we have oil for more than 100 years. The United States is running out of oil,” he said.
“You could ask that question to Salvador Allende, the martyred president; you could ask that question to Juan Bosch, the former Dominican president overthrown by the invasion of the United States; you could ask that question to my general Omar Torrijos, assassinated by the CIA and many more. It's not paranoia, it's the truth; I'm fulfilling a responsibility as Head of State,” he stressed.
In this regard, he stressed that. The paranoid are those of the extreme right, the crazed who believe that the world will not change, the bourgeoisies of this Pitiyanqui continent who strictly intend to continue to dominate these Peoples and are not going to be able to do it.
