CONATEL and the Broadcasting Chamber give continuity to the technical tables to articulate support after earthquakes

In order to strengthen the telecommunications sector, the National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL) and the Venezuelan Chamber of the Broadcasting Industry continued the agenda to articulate a comprehensive care plan for service providers affected by the recent double earthquake in the country.

The meeting ratified the consensus reached in previous sessions, in which progress was made in simplifying administrative procedures, reviewing files for the renewal of titles, providing support to the Autonomous Service of Registries and Notaries (SAREN) and structuring the test plan for digital radio.

The effort was also concentrated on evaluating the impact of the seismic event on radio infrastructure in areas such as the state of La Guaira and the capital region, where several stations were affected, from minor damage to the total loss of recording studios and transmission plants.

It was also agreed to apply a technical diagnosis structured under a classification scheme or “traffic light”, which will allow us to weigh the seriousness of the material damage and design operational responses to the measure, actions that reaffirm the importance of radio as a fundamental pillar to keep the people informed.
