In order to define strategies to combat digital piracy, the National Telecommunications Commission (CONATEL), telecommunications operators and the country's police and judicial authorities set up a high-level panel chaired by the director general of that organization, Jorge Márquez Monsalve.

In a press release published on the CONATEL website, he highlighted the commitment of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to combat this scourge, which not only affects the economy, but has also become a risk to the security of citizens.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Superintendency of Banking Sector Institutions (SUDEBAN), the Antimonopoly Superintendency, the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC) and the main telecommunications operating companies, especially those related to subscription and internet broadcasting services.

Márquez mentioned the need to promote, through this High-Level Table, a communication campaign to raise awareness of the dangers posed by digital piracy and to make it clear that many services that are sold to the population as legal are not, in reality, legal.
