Confeagro promotes sorghum planting in Guárico

Authorities from the National Agricultural Confederation (Confeagro) confirmed the planting of more than 2,300 hectares of sorghum in the state of Guárico.

This initiative is part of a strategic plan that also projects the coverage of at least 2,500 additional hectares in the entities of Portuguesa and Anzoátegui, with the purpose of diversifying domestic cereal production.

This crop has a high nutritional value and is gluten-free, characteristics that position it as a sustainable alternative to guarantee agricultural continuity in Venezuela in the face of high temperatures. In this context, the productive sector prioritizes sorghum because corn crops have recently affected the plant's carrying capacity due to climatic conditions.

On the other hand, technical deployment makes it possible to strengthen the field's response to current environmental challenges. Under this scheme, the consolidation of these planting cycles ensures the necessary supply levels, while optimizing available resources to sustain agricultural performance in strategic regions of the country.
