Congressman Jacobo Torres was honored post-mortem with Order of Liberators of Venezuela in First Class

The deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Jacobo Torres, was honored, post-mortem, with the Order of Liberators of Venezuela in its First Class, a merit granted by the National Executive to the men and women who gave their lives to the fight for a better world.

During the burning chapel in the auditorium of the National Institute for Workers' Training and Recreation (INCRET), in El Paraíso, at an event led by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, he stressed that “you cannot carry a gun. Let him wear the capona as a militia captain of the Bolivarian Revolution.”

Recognizing Torres's trajectory, the head of state pointed out that these badges demonstrate what we should be in our fight against corruption and immorality, because if that generation fought to make the impossible possible, its spirit continues to push us.

“Honor and glory to Jacobo Torres! Let us follow their example and continue to fight for the welfare of our people. Until Victory always!” , President Maduro concluded, urging everyone present to keep alive the memory and legacy of the deceased deputy.

Torres was known as one of the deputies to the AN distinguished in the fight for the demand of workers, and a faithful defender of the truth of Venezuela, for the construction of a better world.

His combative participation includes the development of strategies of international struggle for the construction of a more just world and the defeat of the FTAA; as well as his contributions to the holding of the World Social Forum, the People's Summit, and the formation of the recently created Anti-Imperialist and Anti-Fascist organization.

The Order of Liberators and Liberators of Venezuela is a distinction created on April 6, 2010 under the presidency of Commander Hugo Chávez. It recognizes Venezuelans, foreigners, public or private institutions, for their merits and services in the constant struggle and inexhaustible perseverance for liberating causes and the environment, the self-determination of Peoples, the consolidation of a multipolar, multiethnic and multicultural world for the benefit of the homeland or humanity.
