During her
program Without a Trick or Tomorrow, the deputy to the National Assembly, Tania Díaz, referring to the interference of the President
of the United States, Donald Trump, who called on Hondurans to vote for the National Party's
candidate, Nasry Tito Asfura, recalled that the same thing happened in
Venezuela when the American businessman, Elon Musk, asked Venezuelans to support María Corina Machado.
In that
sense, quoting the words of President Nicolas Maduro, he asked Hondurans to
“Calm, sanity and nerves of steel” and to disconnect from psychological warfare. “From
Venezuela we are going to be following what happens in Honduras step by step, to
accompany them, count on us, with all the digital troop of Sin Truco Ni
Maña,” he said.
For his part, the
vice-foreign minister of Honduras, Gerardo Torres, during a telephone contact with
the radio program hosted by the deputy, pointed out that with only 48
hours left until the elections are held, the elections are once again
threatened, not only by cyberattacks, but by the interference of President Trump.
“This
interference by Trump reaffirms that the advantage of the
Free Party candidate, Rixi Moncada, over the candidates of the right is overwhelming, it is very
large, so what the US President seeks is to bring votes
for another who can be more competitive and in this sense, he attacks the candidate
of the liberal party in the hope that those votes will go to the National Party is a kind of second round,” he explained.
Torres
added that the intention is for the elections to be declared null and void and in six months new elections
will be called and the right wing will win. “The right wing cannot win on Sunday, we have to be clear
about that and repeat it to the point of exhaustion,” he warned.
He emphasized
that when it comes to voting, Hondurans must ask themselves if they want to return to the
past, to the narco dictatorship, or if they want to move forward with the refoundation, remembering
that during the term of office of President Xiomara Castro, it was possible to significantly lower
the poverty reduction rate to 13.5% “this is unprecedented.”
He stressed that
Castro has fully complied and 100% of the electoral material has already been
delivered throughout the national territory. “Everything is ready for us to vote this November 30th
very early, so that the Honduran population can exercise that
suffrage,” he said.
