The National Council for Commerce and Services (ConseComercio) called on Venezuelans to demand the official exchange rate, assessed by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), in transactions with international currencies.
In a press release from ConseComercio, published on his account on the social network Instagram, the president of this organization, Gustavo Valecillos, reiterated the importance that all members and merchants in general comply with the regulations established by the authorities for foreign exchange transactions.
Valecillos stressed that it is essential to keep the BCV indicator in view to ensure transparency and compliance with these regulations.
He indicated that private companies charge the dollar according to the rate established by the BCV, but informal businesses impose a higher price, especially on social networks.
“The call is for consumers to demand regulatory compliance. To the extent that happens, the market will benefit,” he said.
In parallel, the Ministry of People's Power of National Commerce, through the National Superintendency for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights (SUNDDE), initiated the National Plan to verify compliance with the BCV exchange rate in food and grocery stores in the country.
This plan aims to avoid economic distortions and ensure that the Organic Law on Fair Prices is respected.
