Former Argentine president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner took advantage of the setback of the far-right president Javier Milei, after his promotion of the failed cryptocurrency $LIBRA and the appearance of a controversial edited interview in which she tried to justify herself, to put salt in her open wound and reveal a dubious Milei, who could not give satisfactory explanations.

“You're falling to pieces,” he emphasized.

Upon learning about the prepared and edited interview conducted by TN journalist Jonathan Viale, Fernández, on his account of the social network X, stressed that “Milei... you are not just a crypto scammer. You're also a scammer with interviews.”

“Last night, in the TN interview, you were PATHETIC... and that of the Colorado Jony Viale was EMBARRASSING. The two of them together are embarrassing to others,” he said, adding that in the edited version that aired, the president was “pale, babbling and contradictory.”

Fernández continued to rebuke the Argentine president and said: “What are we left with? Wasn't it that your X post was to help Argentinian SMEs? OR ACTUALLY, IT WAS TO ENGAGE SPECULATORS WHO WOULD BET ON THE CASINO SET UP BY YOU, YOUR SISTER AND YOUR PARTNERS.”

He also commented that the American Hayden Davis referred to the fact that Milei would explain the matter in an interview, which makes it clear that there is quite close contact and knowledge of the procedures between the two.

“They set up an interview for you to clean up your image, they brought you a 'journalist' friend (COVERED?) , they outlined your questions and your interview was intervened because what you said 'could bring you a JUDICIAL QUILOMBO'”, Cristina Fernández blurted out.

“NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER BEEN SEEN! PRINCIPLE OF SILVER DISCLOSURE: the collusion of journalists and major media with anti-popular governments,” he concluded.

On the other hand, the Última Noticias portal reports that Argentine markets traded with significant declines on Monday at a time when the eyes of investors are fixed on the scandal that hits President Javier Milei for promoting an unknown cryptocurrency in a tweet -which he later deleted- and that could escalate with the formal request for impeachment.

The country's slow negotiation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reach a new credit agreement is also still in the sights of businesses.

“The government of President Javier Milei is suffering the biggest reputational crisis after he promoted a project with a “token” created within the “blockchain” of the Solana platform called $LIBRA, which was later classified as a scam with several harmed users,” said Wise Capital.

“This reputational impact is expected to cause distortions in markets this week,” he predicted, noting that “the IMF loan is expected to be in the first quarter (of 2025) and the markets are watching for any progress in the negotiation.”

Buenos Aires' leading stock index, the S&P Merval, collapsed 5.58% at the close, compared to a sharp decline of 5.8% at the opening. This benchmark lost 1.2 percent last week.

On the other hand, bonds in the local stock market fell 0.2% in a context of very few transactions due to the lack of institutional investors, operators said.
