On the occasion of the celebration of the 415th anniversary of Santo Cristo de La Grita, the governor of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, declared this Wednesday, August 6, as a non-working day of joy throughout the region.

The people of the border entity deploy with faith and devotion, on a pilgrimage to the city of the Holy Spirit.

Article 2 of the Official Gazette states that the police of the state of Táchira and Civil Protection are ordered to coordinate with the rest of the Public Security Agencies everything related to action, prevention and care for all the pilgrims who participate in the journey of the walk to the capital of the municipality of Jáuregui, to honor with faith and devotion the Holy Christ of La Grita.

Also known as the Athens of Táchira, La Grita celebrated this Tuesday, August 5th, 449 years since its founding.

The mayor of the Jáuregui municipality, Juan Carlos Escalante, stressed that La Grita in recent years has been transformed into an intelligent and sustainable city, with technological adaptation that is complemented by its agricultural potential.
