Two dead people, several houses destroyed and others affected on several beaches in Ecuador have left strong waves in the Pacific Ocean, whose condition is expected to subside on Tuesday and will improve towards the New Year's holiday weekend.
This was specified this Sunday by several authorities in the country when evaluating the maritime phenomenon that began last Friday, with waves that have exceeded two meters in height.
The provinces of El Oro (bordering Peru) and Manabí have been the most affected by the maritime phenomenon, which has also hit beaches in those of Santa Elena and Esmeraldas (bordering Colombia).
The head of the National Secretariat for Risk Management (Sngre), Jorge Carrillo, said at a press conference that since last Friday there have been eleven events related to the strong waves that have endangered coastal populations.
He confirmed that two people have died, both in the province of Manabí, and that the waves have directly affected 38 families totaling 131 people.
The phenomenon has occurred in coastal areas of Chile, Peru and Ecuador.
