The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, met this Thursday in London, England, with the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Arsenio Domínguez, with whom she addressed the impact of maritime transport on international trade.

In this regard, Rodríguez expressed concern that all the fleets of vessels owned by Petrleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) are blocked, not only 39 state ships, but also 30 international trade vessels that have been sanctioned as part of the policies of aggression against Venezuela.

He said that the South American nation is “the fourth country with the highest number of blocked ships in the world”, so President Nicolás Maduro, “very firmly, permanently asks for the end of this illegal blockade that has turned into a real economic genocide against the Venezuelan people.”

He stressed that the environmental issue is highly susceptible to the IMO, which has concrete plans for this purpose, which has to do with the reduction of greenhouse gases and how geopolitics plays an important role in international maritime transport.
