The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, presented this Thursday to the National Assembly (AN) the draft budget for the year 2026, which amounts to 5 trillion 22 thousand 978 million 785 thousand 870 bolivars, with an expected social investment of 77.8%.
Rodríguez stressed that, unlike the budgets of the Fourth Republic, in which social investment was considered social expenses that did not exceed 40%. While the current model prioritizes social development and popular participation.
He recalled that, in 2024, social investment reached 77.4%, in 2025 it stood at 77.6% and, by 2026, it is expected to reach 77.8%, with special attention to infrastructure, education, health, security, housing, culture, communication, science and technology.
The vice-president stressed that planning incorporates the unprecedented experience of popular consultations, through which the People decided directly on the orientation of resources. So far, 33,206 community projects have been approved, with a total investment of 262 million dollars in sectors such as drinking water, transportation, sports spaces and projects for young people.
In his speech, Rodríguez specified: “This budget provides for the distribution of projects in the economic area with 31%, in the Human City for public services and also in the Indebtedness Act at 19%, in social 23%, in politics 10%, in ecosocialism 8.9%, in geopolitics 1.6% and in security and defense 5.5%. There are the projects that are going to be covered but with a territorial vision and with a participatory and leading vision of the Venezuelan people.”
Finally, he stressed that the 2026 projects will focus on the Concrete Agenda for Action, which includes education, housing, electricity, water, public works, transportation and defense, as essential needs of the Venezuelan people.
