On the occasion of the Day of Indigenous Resistance, the Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, shared a message on her Telegram channel, in which she praised the memory of indigenous peoples and their legacy of fighting against colonization.
Rodríguez said that 533 years ago, indigenous peoples gave a firm show of resistance to the colonization process and emphasized that today's Venezuelan people are heirs to this spirit and these deep roots.
“Today we exalt our native peoples as a living part of national history, as actors who, through self-determination, sustain the defense of freedom,” he said.
The vice-president concluded her message by reiterating the Bolivarian Government's recognition of indigenous communities within the framework of this day of commemoration and historic reaffirmation.
