The president in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, urged the Venezuelan opposition to rectify its errors in the face of the country's political situation and not to confuse with “weakness” the recent decisions taken by the National Government.
In this regard, during the annual message to the nation before the National Assembly, Rodríguez assured that the release of people arrested for being involved in crimes of terrorism or against the Venezuelan State was a decision by President Nicolás Maduro to advance the opening of more political spaces in the country.
“There are those who believe that this is a sign of weakness because of the complex situation that Venezuela is experiencing, make no mistake! Because this new chapter will also have absolute respect for compliance with the Law. We have stretched out our hands, because when Chavism had to rectify it, it has done so, I ask the same of the Venezuelan opposition, closer to extremism or democracy,” he emphasized.
In this regard, he stressed that the Venezuelan people expect, from each of the country's political leaders, the behavior of “Bolivarian statesman who understands our history and behaves accordingly.”
