The
Executive Vice President and Minister of the People's Power of Hydrocarbons, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted
this Thursday that Venezuela is working on important projects with transnational gas companies to export its
first molecule.
During his
speech at the 14th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum - SPIGF
2025, in virtual format, Rodríguez recalled that the South American nation “has the largest reserves in the hemisphere,
the eighth in the world, as a producer country it is
ranked 23rd and as a consumer it is 27th”.
He pointed out that “Russia
has investments in gas, offshore in Venezuela”, highlighting the signing of the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation
Treaty between the two countries,
which allows the strategic-energy relationship to “be consolidated, grown and projected
towards the future, with an eye on the future of peoples and on the defense of sovereignty.”
With regard to
gas demand in Latin America and the Caribbean, he commented that the projection
stands at 132%, which indicates that the hemisphere's reserves “are
extraordinary areas for gas development opportunities.”
