Deportivo Táchira took over the top of the FUTVE League

After the results of the fifth day of the 2025 Apertura Tournament of the Venezuelan Football League (FUTVE League), Deportivo Táchira became the leader, beating Portuguesa FC by goal difference.

At the Pueblo Nuevo stadium, those led by Edgar Pérez Greco beat Caracas FC 1-0 with a goal scored by José Balza in the 24th minute.

With that same result, Estudiantes de Mérida defeated Rayo Zuliano, with a goal scored by Joel Infante at 53′, at the Metropolitan Stadium in the Andean city.

Deportivo La Guaira also beat Anzoátegui FC 1-0 with a goal from Yackson Rivas at 74′ at José Antonio Anzoátegui, Puerto La Cruz.

For their part, at the Florentino Oropeza stadium in San Felipe, Yaracuyanos FC and Zamora FC equaled 2-2 with a double from José Gregorio Pérez at 72′ and 90+4′ penalty for the locals and a goal from Santiago Gómez at 23′ and José Sequera at 56′ for the visit.

Meanwhile, UCV FC dominated Portuguesa FC 0-1 with a goal scored by Juan Camilo Zapata in 86′ against José Antonio Páez, Acarigua. The same result of the match between Academia Puerto Cabello and Monagas SC, at the La Bombonerita stadium, the only goal of the match was courtesy of local Harrison Contreras 34′.

Metropolitanos FC thrashed Carabobo FC 3-0, with a double from Angelo Lucena at 23′ and 84′ and a goal from Carlos Paraco at 29′, at the Olympic Stadium, Caracas.

Portuguesa is second in the standings with 10 points, followed by Academia Puerto Cabello and Deportivo La Guaira with 9 points each. While the fifth and sixth place are occupied by Carabobo and UCV with 8 points each, respectively.

The seventh, eighth and ninth places are occupied by Anzoátegui, Metropolitanos and Caracas, respectively, with 7 units each.
