The president of the Standing Committee on Economy, Finance and National Development, Deputy Jesús Fanía, stated that the approval of the Law for the Promotion and Promotion of Coffee represents a step aimed at expanding domestic production.

He explained that the promotion of coffee as a strategic sector is part of the Homeland Plan and will make it possible to generate additional revenues to those from the hydrocarbons sector, according to a press release from the AN.

He pointed out that the regulations will regulate the conditions of the coffee sector and, at the same time, will oblige the State to implement policies aimed at increasing production and strengthening the welfare of coffee farmers.

“We want to ensure that the wealth generated in the sector is distributed in a much more equitable way, which benefits farming families and also popular power,” he said.

He indicated that the law incorporates productive, ecological and social dimensions and added that, for municipalities linked to this activity, coffee also constitutes a cultural element.
