“Because loving Venezuela was my father's most important teaching,” said the deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Juan Simón Primera, during the Los Claveles march, held in Caracas to commemorate the 41st anniversary of the death of the Cantor del Pueblo, Ali Primera.

The parliamentarian affirmed that the legacy of the singer and composer lives on in the national conscience and in the identity of the Venezuelan people.

“Today marks the 41st anniversary of the physical departure of my father, the Cantor del Pueblo, a militant of peace, joy and Venezuelan conscience, of Bolivarian conscience. Why is it important to remember? Because you don't just remember February 16 or October 31. Remembering Primera is every day of life,” she said.

The deputy stressed that the songs of Ali Primera are part of the popular identity and accompany the struggles of the Venezuelan people.

“His songs were part of the voice of the people, part of that troubadour on the street, of walking it. And to walk down the street every day is to remember Venezuela. Every time I remember it I cry, love, laugh. Because loving Venezuela was my father's most important teaching,” he said.

He pointed out that he was only three months old when the physical disappearance of the Town Singer occurred, but he assured that his presence accompanies him every day.

“Every day of my life I keep remembering my father, and just as I keep remembering my father, I keep remembering the Venezuelan people. I will never forget the Venezuelan people. I will always walk on the street, I will continue to love my country, and that is the importance of remembering my father,” he concluded.
