The sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, at a press conference this Wednesday, stated that there are officials who “sell their souls” to drug trafficking groups.

“Right now we don't have any names of Colombian government officials, but it's a terrible system that operates and works,” he said, adding that this “system that has fallen and wants to work like in any other country... I don't blame the Colombian government, but when you have presidents like (Juan Manuel) Santos, (Álvaro) Uribe, (Iván) Duque and (Andrés) Pastrana... Colombia has a greater presence of these officials because it is the largest producer of drugs,” he said.

“We have done all these operations here without anyone's help, thanks to the work of our agencies, they haven't given us information,” he added.

In this regard, he recalled that, recently, in a joint operation with France, a vessel containing 700 kilos of drugs was arrested. “If they give us information, we act and I am sure that serious governments also act. We didn't capture these with the support of the Colombian government, it's the job of the Government of Venezuela,” he emphasized.

“It's not a lie that the Albanian-Colombian man (Enit Kasm) escaped that day, escaped and was reviewed in Colombia, it's a great truth, what we're doing here is stopping him... We are doing a very good job here,” he stressed, adding that the investigation reveals how the coup plotters and their allies seek money from drug trafficking to pay criminal gangs in Venezuela “it's an instructive puzzle, you begin to see how they are linked.”
