Dominican Republic: More than 180 people have been rescued alive after the discotheque tragedy

The Rescue Brigades of the Dominican Republic reported this Thursday that they managed to recover alive 189 people who spent hours under the rubble in the recently collapsed nightclub in this capital.

The data were updated by the director of the Emergency Operations Center (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez; body recovery efforts continue, as well as psychosocial support for family members, Prensa Latina said.

The rescuers continue to fight, together with Dominican society tirelessly to remove debris and thus try to recover people alive since the early morning of last Tuesday.

This Thursday, the Institutes of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Pathology released the names of 146 fatalities, out of a total of 218, while the desperation of families increases as the hours go by

So far, neither the authorities nor the administration of the nightclub, one of the country's main nightclubs, have reported the exact number of people who were there at the time of the accident.
