The North American newspaper New York Times urged citizens of the United States (USA) to be aware and protect their rights in defense of the nation in the context of Donald Trump's victory in the presidential elections.

The North American newspaper reminded citizens that “the laws, institutions and values that have made it strong”.

The New York Times published an editorial last Wednesday in which it stated that Trump's victory represents a serious threat to the United States, setting it on “a dangerous course that no one can fully foresee.”

In this context, the local source specified that there can be no deception about Trump as a political figure and the way in which he intends to govern. Likewise, the newspaper has revealed that among the Republican's motivations are: obtaining power and the cult of personality.

The statements come after strong criticism of the newly elected president of the United States in the elections held this Tuesday, November 5, in all North American states.
