In a new act of ignorance of Venezuelan institutions, the former opposition presidential candidate, Enrique Márquez, requested the challenge of the president of the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Caryslia Beatriz Rodríguez, who received the contentious electoral appeal filed by President Nicolás Maduro to resolve any situation surrounding the elections of last July 28.
The former candidate alleged that Rodríguez maintains political ties with President Maduro; however, the Supreme Court is an independent power of the Executive Branch and its rulings must be complied with by all political sectors.
Márquez, following the line of opposition extremism led
by María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia, had already refused to
sign the agreement to recognize the electoral results signed before the National Electoral Council (CNE) by 8 of
the 10 candidates who participated in the electoral contest.
Likewise, although he appeared before the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court, he did not present the evidence required by this instance as part of the litigation, to carry out the respective expertise that would later be verified with the digital ballot records in the Electoral Power, while the former candidate González Urrutia did not even appear in the country's highest court, even though he denounces alleged fraud.
Last Sunday, August 18, the Supreme Court concluded the examination
of the minutes recorded by the CNE, the
former candidates and representatives of the political parties, so its
magistrates came to validate the physical records with those received
from the national totalization centers on July 28.
The judges of the Electoral Chamber arrived at the scene accompanied by
the international experts and observers who are witnessing this process
of investigating the contentious appeal filed by the Head of State.
