The director of the Criminal and Criminal Scientific Investigations Corps (CICPC), Douglas Rico, highlighted the diminishing achievements in the commission of crimes at the national level, thanks to the policies of the Bolivarian Government and the civic-military-police union.
In this regard, he explained that when comparing 2024 with 2023, “to date we have almost 8,000 fewer crimes committed this year (...) we have had 3.49 homicides per hundred thousand inhabitants, which indicates that to date, compared to last year, we have less than 3,320 homicide victims (...) this is not that a homicide or robbery will not occur, but crimes have fallen”.
With regard to cybercrime, he indicated that after the Covid-19 pandemic , in 2020, it was “growing”, so he warned that there is a 'modus operandi' in which people receive a call and provide information to criminals, who enter banking systems and applications such as WhatsApp with that data.
