The State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly ratified the Strategic Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with Venezuela, signed by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Nicolás Maduro, on May 7, 2025, in Moscow.

In this regard, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov, highlighted the importance of this certification, which occurs in a context where “Washington has a military threat in the Caribbean”, which is why Moscow “must do everything possible to effectively counteract inflammatory intentions”.

He also indicated that Venezuela is a “friendly and allied country throughout the region” and recalled that this agreement includes the fight against hegemonism and terrorism.
