This Wednesday, Leónidas Iza, president of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE), denounced that President Daniel Noboa violated the country's Constitution by signing a decree to implement the Bill for the Improvement of Tax Collection by Combating Money Laundering, which was previously denied by the National Assembly (AN).

Noboa, by publishing a law denied and archived by the Assembly, violates the Constitution and despises democratic order,” the leader demanded on the social network X, adding that “these actions weaken our democracy and isolate us more from the world due to the lack of legal security.”

Iza offered these statements after the Ecuadorian president authorized the publication of the Anti-Pill Law in the Official Registry, whose proposal establishes a gradual increase in the tax for the purchase and sale of used vehicles, from the current 1% to 5%.

Previously, the Parliament of Ecuador did not reject this initiative with 84 votes, so it was shelved. In this regard, Iza stressed that her country does not deserve this authoritarian regression.
