Egypt launches its first domestically made industrial robot

Egypt presented the first self-developed industrial robot, with a proportion of local components that reaches 80% and is expected to rise to 90% in the near future, after the location of engine production, the Ministry of Trade and Industry of that country in a statement.

Industry Minister Khaled Hashem described the project as an important step in strengthening the country's productive potential and developing more efficient and competitive factories. He also highlighted that the initiative demonstrated the capacity of young Egyptian specialists to convert knowledge and innovation into industrial products, BRICS TV reported.

The ministry will develop mechanical engineering and production lines as part of the implementation of Egypt's industrial strategy, and will support initiatives aimed at strengthening the manufacturing industry and creating opportunities for young specialists, Hashem added.

The presentation of the robot comes after Cairo ranked 86th in the world ranking of the top 100 innovation clusters of 2026, prepared by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
