Egypt is preparing for an unprecedented energy milestone with the inauguration of its first nuclear power plant in 2028, a strategic project developed in collaboration with the Russian state corporation Rosatom.

The El Dabaa plant, located on the Mediterranean coast, represents a fundamental technological advance for the African nation, consolidating its energy infrastructure through the use of massive and constant generation sources to meet domestic demand.

The energy complex will have a robust design of four generation units that, together, will add up to a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts. It is estimated that by 2028 the first unit will begin to effectively deliver nuclear energy to the Egyptian national power grid, marking the beginning of a new era in the country's energy matrix and diversifying its resources beyond traditional fossil fuels.

This work is not only significant for local development, but it also sets a historic precedent as it is the first nuclear power plant built by the Rosatom corporation on the African continent.

Russian participation in this major project reinforces the ties of technical and economic cooperation between the two nations, positioning Egypt as a regional reference in the implementation of nuclear technology for civil and peaceful purposes.

With the implementation of this infrastructure, the Egyptian government seeks to ensure the stability of the electricity supply in the long term and reduce carbon emissions in compliance with international sustainability standards.

The completion of the remaining units after the start of operations in 2028 will allow the plant to reach its maximum operational capacity, definitively transforming the industrial and social landscape of the region.
