“Encuentro en Corto” student film festival will arrive in Caracas from August 26 to September 6

The third edition of the festival “Short Encounter : Student Cinema 2026", which will take place from August 26 to September 6, will arrive at the Sala Cinemateca of the Museum of Fine Arts (MBA), in Caracas, where a total of 72 audiovisual works will be screened.

Organized by the National Cinemateca Foundation, the meeting will bring together productions from more than 17 studios, with a selection consisting of 49 fictions, 22 documentaries and one animation, made between 2024 and 2026.

The territorial route includes works from the Capital District, Mérida, Monagas, Guárico, Lara, Barinas, Zulia, Cojedes and Falcón, as well as a special representation from Peru to enrich Latin American cultural exchange.

The festival also includes awards to promote new generations of cinema. The winners of the categories best documentary short film and best fiction short film will receive a diploma and an incentive of 500 dollars, while the public can choose their favorite work by voting in person. The winner of this category will also receive a specialized consulting session with filmmaker Kaori Flores.

As part of the program, talks and training meetings will be held on Venezuelan short films, the new generations of cinema, still photography and intellectual property for audiovisual directors, among other topics.

The agenda will also include a special activity for the 60th anniversary of the National Cinematheque, as part of a space that seeks to promote exchange between students, filmmakers and professionals in the film industry.
