The Special Commission for the Defense of the Territory of Guiana Esequiba and Territorial Sovereignty is making progress in the construction of the Draft Law for the Constitution of the Guayana Esequiba State, Deputy Hermann Escarrà reported this Monday, August 26.

From the Federal Legislative Palace, he explained that the document under development must have a cultural, demographic, social and economic specificity. “The attributes of the Sucre state are not the same as those of La Guaira. Every aspect and characteristics must be considered,” he said in an AN press release.

Escarrà, who chairs the special commission, indicated that of the five titles of the bill, three have already been approved. He added that once the debate on the working paper is over, they will proceed to hand it over to the president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez.

He explained that, among other points of the draft bill, they are working on several proposals for flags for the state of Guayana Esequiba, as well as shields and anthems, which are identifying elements for the country's new entity.

For his part, the general coordinator of the special commission, Deputy Jesús Santander, proposed to coordinate with the Ministry of Popular Power for Education the inclusion of state number 24, Guayana Esequiba, in school texts.

In another context, the body also approved a document congratulating the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, for the support he has provided to defense, sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as his initiative to promote the Consultative Referendum and the development of the Organic Law for the Defense of Guiana Esequiba.

Escarrà said that the parliamentary committee supports the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which endorses the victory of President Maduro in the elections of July 28.
