This Tuesday, the European Union (EU) urged Ukraine to accelerate the repair of the Druzhba oil pipeline, said the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Recently, Ukraine announced that it will resume the supply of oil through the Druzhba pipeline on February 24, but Kiev postponed the deadline to the 25th. The Slovak Economy Minister, Denisa Sakova, indicated that Ukraine had previously postponed the restoration of supplies several times.

“We asked (Ukraine) to repair the oil pipeline (...), to accelerate,” said Von der Leyen at a press conference in Kiev.

On January 27, Ukraine shut off the tap of the oil pipeline that crosses the territory of this country and transports Russian oil to Slovakia and Hungary, alleging alleged damage to the pipeline.

On Monday, the Hungarian Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, announced that Hungary had blocked package 20 of anti-Russian sanctions and the EU loan of 90 billion euros to Ukraine, due to the suspension of oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, assured that he has information that the pipeline is working and reported that the Ukrainian authorities prevented the Slovak ambassador from visiting the allegedly damaged section of the pipeline.
