Heads of State of 24 countries have confirmed their attendance at the XVI summit of the BRICS group to be held between Tuesday, October 22 and Thursday, October 24 in the city of Kazan - Russia.
Representatives from 32 countries from Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East are expected to participate in the event. In turn, Russia, as host of the summit, has invited its neighbors from the Commonwealth of Independent States and “all have confirmed their attendance”.
The BRICS have established an international alliance that brings together Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa with the objective of strengthening cooperation between developing countries and acting as a counterweight to the hegemonic power of the West.
The organization has expanded its horizons in recent years with the creation of BRICS+, to extend the list of participants.
The power of the BRICS has been valued by several Latin American countries, who see this alliance as an opportunity to diversify their trade, economic and political relations.
In addition to having alliances with the members of the potential group, Venezuela has strategically seen itself as part of it, since it has the largest proven oil reserves in the world, as well as significant resources of natural gas, gold and other minerals and thus makes substantial contributions to the block.
As part of the start of the summit, the vice-president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, arrived this Monday in the city of Kazan, in Russia, to attend the XVI Summit of the BRICS group, which will take place from Tuesday to next Thursday.
Vice President Rodríguez, who arrived accompanied by the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, was received by Russian authorities after her arrival in the city of Kazan.
