The executive secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America — Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Rander Peña, called on the United Nations to work at the service of peoples.

From the Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre, during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations, Peña reaffirmed the regional block's commitment to multilateralism, “but not to a multilateralism of empty speeches, but to one that acts with courage, equity and justice.”

He also stressed the importance of strengthening respect for international law, stopping aggressions against peoples and “recovering the spirit of 1945, where peace was not only the absence of war, but the presence of justice, development and dignity for all.”
