The Falconian writer, Liwin Acosta, won the 7th Gustavo Pereira National Literature Biennial, with the Poetry Mention, with his collection of poems “Farewell Machine”.

In the verdict, the jury, composed of the writers Gabriel Saldivia, Cósimo Mandrillo and Ingrid Chicote, expressed that “Machine for making goodbyes” is a collection of poems that “transports to imaginary worlds where the being who writes is based on the complexity of a poetic voice that explores the world and its relations with the universality of being and its circumstances”.

They also indicated that the work “creates possible worlds with the word immersed in the Honduras of myth and the kingdom of dreams” and highlights the language immersed in the symbolic, the mythological and the cosmogonic that constructs dreamlike landscapes whose complex images turn the work into “a complete and very well written book”.

In addition, Saldivia, Mandrillo and Chicote pointed out that “the literary text is a truth in itself, and it is constantly being redone over time. In this sense, poetry is not of now, nor of the chronological future, but rather, in its mysterious course, it speaks at all times”.

The winner will receive a cash prize awarded by the National Book Center (CENAL) and the publication of the book by Monte Ávila Editores.

The biennial was organized by the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture through CENAL and closed on September 15 after the receipt of 100 manuscripts.
