This Friday, October 11, the Caracas Battalion Command was handed over and received by T/C José Bernardo Arena Mujica, from the hands of the Sectorial Vice President of Defense and Sovereignty and Minister of People's Power for Defense, G/J Vladímir Padrino López.
“Today we are at the act of transmission of command of this distinguished Caracas Battalion (BACARA), as part of the institutional dynamic of permanent renewal, which implies more commitment, more innovation, more patriotism and more love for the Fatherland,” said Padrino López, presiding over the military ceremony together with the authorities of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) who were especially invited to this solemn act.
In a review published on the FANB website, he stressed that “it is always necessary for us to have that transparency over time, which allows us to see much beyond what we live in the midst of these permanent aggressions against Venezuela.”
“The Bolivarian National Armed Forces has stood firm with its chest raised and its gaze on the horizon, to reject with great force all the vilification and everything that wanted to deform a country that has its antibodies alive and is getting stronger every day to say: No to aggression! No to interventionism! No to interference! and Yes to life! Yes to the Fatherland! Yes to the FANB in its unity, in its patriotic and democratic vocation!” , he ruled.
In his speech, he invited the FANB to think about historical episodes when next December 9th marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, where two brilliant minds, Liberator Bolivar and Grand Marshal Antonio José de Sucre, joined together to achieve the long-awaited independence.
“That is the eponym of this Battalion. So when you see a soldier from the Caracas Battalion wearing his red beret, with his badges, with his uniform, you see a courageous volunteer who 200 years later is taking up arms to defend the peace, sovereignty and independence of Venezuela,” he said.
He thanked Colonel Edicson Hely Lizardo Arrieta, outgoing commander of the Caracas Battalion, for his perseverance, prudence, gallantry, for his voice, which “always cries out for the well-being of his subordinates, and I have appointed him as commander of the Cadet Corps of the Military Academy of the Bolivarian Army, which he will assume for the next few days.”
He also welcomed T/C José Bernardo Arena Mujica, the new commander of the corps, specifying that he has already been second commander of the Battalion.
“And the thing is that their qualities are enough to come and receive a great responsibility of this size. And this was stated during his speech by Lieutenant Arena, that in the midst of so many aggressions that harm our country, we can never take a wrong step, wherever we are,” he said.
Padrino López said that “this is why we need to know our history, because of the reliable moment we are experiencing to save the Republic and build peace permanently, which needs much more tribute than to wage war.”
“Let's continue to build the peace of the country, the peace of Venezuelan society, institutional peace, political peace, economic peace. And that peace is possible because you have the weapons and you manage them in accordance with what is established in the Constitution and you are virtuous soldiers to defend the Homeland,” he concluded.
