During patrolling operations on the border of the Catatumbo municipality, in the state of Zulia, members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and civil security forces seized 126 kg of alleged cocaine and dismantled a clandestine camp linked to Colombian Armed Terrorist groups (TANCOL), as part of operation Binational Zone of Peace No. 1.
The commander of the Zulia Comprehensive Defense Operational Zone, Major General Javier Enrique Magallanes, presented a balance sheet of the operational results obtained this week, highlighting the perfect fusion between civilians, military and police that underpins national sovereignty on the border.
“We are not going to allow armed terrorist groups of Colombian origin to attempt to cross into Venezuelan territory. The FANB is deployed to eradicate every threat, from drug trafficking to the incursion of TANCOL elements,” he said.
Magallanes specified that the Rapid Combat Reaction Units (URRAS) managed to seize nine assault rifles, seven pistols, three shotguns of different calibers, two fragmentation grenades, 38 magazines, 20 slow fuse rolls, four high-end vehicles and three motorcycles. In addition, a clandestine shipyard where vessels used for drug trafficking were built and repaired was dismantled, and three ships, 1,600 liters of gasoline, 22 metal containers for resin and seven rolls of glass stone were seized.
He stressed that “Venezuela does not produce, sow or distribute narcotic substances. Our territory is one of peace, and for Venezuela we are integrated into active defense.”
