This Friday, Father Numa Molina, during the broadcast of the radio program, Sin Truco ni Maña, questioned the bureaucratization of the process of beatification and canonization by the Catholic Church.
Molina explained that in other times “the saints were recognized by the local people and the local bishop was responsible for saying if this was a saint”, so canonizations took less time, a different case than what happened with Dr. José Gregorio Hernández.
In addition, he said that José Gregorio Hernández was a patriot, “let's not forget that he was the first in his parish to defend the country when the blockade of the Venezuelan coast.”
Finally, he specified that Hernández was enrolled in the militia, “José Gregorio Hernández is enrolled in the militia of the Altagracia parish, he lives on Calle Norte 2, house number 36.”
