The wrestler Nohalis Loyo finished in an outstanding fourth place of 50 kg in the U23 World Championship in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The Venezuelan in the fight for the bronze medal fell to the Swiss Svenja Jungo, by just two points 9-7.
Loyo , 23, began his World Cup action in the round of 16 with a 3-1 victory over wrestler Sviatlana Katenka, but lost 10-0 to American Audrey Jiménez in the quarterfinals, according to the Ministry of Sports press.
Despite the fall, Larense had a chance of winning one of the bronze medals thanks to the fact that her North American rival dominated the Ukrainian Aida Kerymova 5-2 in the semifinals and certified her name in the final for the gold medal against China's Jinyue Liang.
For her part, Jungo beat Mexico's Ana Palacios 9-2 in the qualifying round, but fell short in her attempt to advance 12-6 against American Audrey Jiménez in the eighth and also entered the repechage for third place.
In the fight for the 50 kg gold medal, China's Lian beat American Jiménez 6-2.
The Venezuelan women's fight continues in action this Friday, October 23 in the 53 kg category with Alexa Álvarez who is measured against the Spanish Carla Jaume, and in the 62 kg category, Astrid Montero faces the Polish Alicja Nowosad.
