FILVEN 2025 opened registrations for training and professionalization activities

The Venezuelan International Book Fair (FILVEN)
opened
registrations to participate in training and
professionalization activities related to books and writing that will be held at the country's
greatest literary festival, to be held from July 3 to 13 at the National Art
Gallery (GAN) and the Youth Square in Caracas, under the motto Reading humanizes.
Among
the training activities for the entire public will be the workshops
“Creative Writing in a Story”, which will be facilitated by Edwin Antonio García
(Honduras), on July 4 and 5; “Rivers of Venezuela in the
Verbal Regions”, by Antonio Trujillo, on July 4; “
Dystopian Microfiction”, with Daniel Arella, on July 7; “Reading Mediation”, with
Leonardo Cadiz, on July 8; “Narration: The Ghostwriter, a Role Play
for Writing in a Group”, with Sol Linares, from 9 to 11 July; and “Bolivar and the
poetic speech”, which will be provided by Roger Herrera, on July 11.
In addition, from July 10 to 12, the seminar
“The Women of the River” will be held, where the 50th anniversary of the works It's Not
Time for Red Roses, by Antonieta Madrid; The Long Day Now Sure, by
Antonia Palacios, and The Book of Offices, by Ana Enriqueta Terán, by
Laura Gamboa and with the participation as speakers of the writers Laura
Antillano, Beatriz Escalante (Mexico), Maribel Prieto, Lisbelay Bermúdez, Carolina Álvarez, Ana María Romero and Beatriz Aifil.
In addition to the Professional Salon from July 4 to 8, with professionalization
activities aimed at booksellers, designers, publishers,
printers, librarians, graphic students and technicians.
The workshops “Layout and
Binding” will be held, by Juan José Abreu, on July 5; “Correction of literary
style”, by Héctor González, on July 6; “Techniques for
literary translation”, with Cósimo Mandrillo, on July 7; “Magazines and
their structures”, by Ximena Benítez, on July 7; “Illustration”, which will be provided by Guadalupe Vivas, on July 8.
These include the discussions “The territorialization
of library services”, with the coordinator of the Network of
Public Libraries of Honduras, Edwin Antonio García, and the general director of the National
Library of Venezuela, Jorge Berrueta, on July 4; “The processes
of the book”, by Marcelo Mingiano, by the publisher Siglo XXI
(Argentina), and Mikel Buldain Sánchez, by the publisher Txalaparta (Spain), on July
5, and “Copyright in Venezuela”, by the Autonomous Property Service
Intellectual (SAPI), to be held on July 8.
In addition, as part of the
Professional Salon program, a space for editorial
links will open on the 4th and 5th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., to generate opportunities for alliance and agreements
between the different actors in the publishing industry, both national and international.
