FILVEN 2025 will bring together 18 countries in Caracas and will have Egypt as guest of honor

The 21st International Book Fair of Venezuela (FILVEN) 2025 will take place from July 03 to 13, in the spaces of the National Art Gallery (GAN) and the Plaza de la Juventud, in Caracas, under the motto Reading Humanizes”.

The event will be attended by publishers from 18 countries and will have the Arab Republic of Egypt as its guest of honor, the Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, said at a press conference.

Villegas was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Cultural Development and president of the National Book Center (CENAL), Raúl Cazal.

He highlighted the importance of FILVEN and its focus on the convergence of ancient cultures, on which he said he will pay tribute to outstanding writers and academics, such as the economist Judith Valencia, the poet Gonzalo Fragui, the French anthropologist Jean Marc Sellier De Civrieux and the researcher Esteban Monsoyi.

“It's an example of coexistence that we make available to the world,” said Villegas, referring to the cultural integration that this event represents.

It will also bring together publishers from various countries such as Argentina, Spain, the Basque Country, Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia, Honduras, Iran, Peru, Colombia, China, Tunisia, Guatemala, Brazil, Turkey, the United States and Canada. In addition, it will have the traditional children's pavilion, where boys and girls will enjoy creative workshops, storytelling, recreational activities and dramatized readings.

For his part, Deputy Minister Raúl Cazal reported that this edition will include 100 new titles from the publishers El Perro y la Rana, Monte Ávila Editores and Biblioteca Ayacucho.

The program will include book presentations, workshops, talks, exhibitions and recitals, along with three thematic axes: current Venezuelan narrative, commune as a space for reading transformation and Egypt from the Alexandria library to the digital library.

In addition, the presence of prominent national writers was confirmed, such as Laura Antillano, Luis Britto García, Benito Yrady, Miguel Ángel Pérez Pirela, Tarek William Saab, Luis Alberto Crespo, Carmen Bohórquez, Antonio Trujillo, Cósimo Mandrillo and Alejandro Bruzual, who will be part of this edition with various literary activities.

FILVEN 2025 is the most important literary and cultural event in the country. Since its creation in 2005, it has established itself as a platform for the encounter between writers and readers, which promotes editorial production and access to literature in Venezuela.
