The governor, Joana Sánchez, championed the delegation that will represent Aragua in the 2025 Community Sports Games to be held from December 06 to 18 in the Andean region.
The event was held in the Plaza del Estudiante, in the municipality of Girardot and was attended by sports figures such as the karateca Daniel Gómez (bronze medalist in the Tokyo 2025 Deaf Olympic Games) and the deaf-Olympic basketball player Wilson Ávila, as well as municipal authorities and Carlos España, president of the Regional Sports Institute of Aragua.
“It fills us with joy and immense pride to see the faces of our boys and girls from the different communities, gathered here,” said Sánchez.
Aragua will compete with a delegation of 287 people, made up of 195 athletes in 20 disciplines, plus coaches, technicians and support staff. The state phase had a massive participation: of the 191 communal circuits in Aragua, 155 managed to qualify, involving 720 community councils and mobilizing 3,634 athletes in total.
The honor of carrying the flag went to two promising young people: Luisberlis Rivas (athletics), a throwing specialist and double gold medalist in the 2025 Student Games and Aram Amaro (gymnastics), also a gold medalist in the 2025 Student Games.
