Foreign Minister Gil called for stopping the privatization of United Nations agencies

The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil Pinto, during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the creation of the United Nations, invited the international community to mobilize and use the United Nations Charter to address the main problems of humanity and prevent the failure of the United Nations from triggering the third world war.

“The League of Nations failed and started what we now know as the Second World War; let's not allow the United Nations to fail and start the third world war, which will definitely exterminate us all (...) it's an urgent call,” he said.

The head of diplomatic relations called for stopping the “privatization” that United Nations agencies have been undergoing in recent years, which has given power to entities other than States, which are even above States. It is necessary that this be reversed and returned to the original essence, the sovereign equality of States and to avoid double standards and the commodification of the functions of the United Nations,” he said.

“Today the emergency is peace, without it we cannot achieve anything and it is necessary for all of us to mobilize, so again the call for this World Summit for Peace, which is nothing more than a World Summit in defense of the United Nations Charter and in defense of the values of humanity itself, ” he said.
