The Foreign Minister of the Republic , Yván Gil, criticized the act of interference in the internal affairs of the Nation, by the President of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi, as well as the omission of the serious events experienced by the people of Venezuela due to the bombing by United States military forces, which in their wake left a hundred dead, with the intention of kidnapping President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, the First Lady, Cilia Flores de Maduro .

Gil published a letter on his social networks asking the president of the Uruguayan nation to take care of his country's affairs and to respect international law. He also added a capture of Orsi's previous message in which he posted his unhappy opinions about Venezuela.

“The president of Uruguay, Yamandú Orsi, lacks authority over the political life of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Our country is a sovereign State, with legitimate institutions and a people that decide their destiny without external guardianship or lessons from anyone.

Even more seriously, it deliberately omits that the Constitutional President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, has been kidnapped from his residence in Caracas, in an armed attack that has cost the lives of civilians and soldiers, violating personal immunity as Head of State, immunity that President Orsi himself enjoys and that we claim and defend.

We invite President Orsi to deal with the affairs of Uruguay, to respect international law and the principle of non-intervention, and to understand that true democracy begins with respect for the sovereignty of peoples.

Venezuela will continue its path with independence, dignity and peace, regardless of who weighs it down.”
