Foreign Minister reiterated Venezuela's solidarity to Barbados

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Barbados are examples of brotherhood, work and perseverance in diplomatic relations, based on mutual respect and solidarity, stressed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, during the reception, organized by the Embassy of the Caribbean nation in Caracas, to celebrate the 59th anniversary of independence and the fourth year as a Republic.

‎ “Both Caribbean nations share special ties and an air and aquatic space that has served for trade and peace,” said the foreign minister.

“It is a true honor to have celebrated together with the Barbadian ambassador to Venezuela, Aquinas Clarke, the anniversary of his country's independence, reached on November 30, 1966, as well as the proclamation of his Republic on November 30, 2021. On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, we reiterate our friendship and the historic cooperation and solidarity that unites us as Caribbean nations,” the diplomat stressed on his Telegram channel.

According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry, Gil, during the reception,‎indicó that Venezuela recognizes the firmness and position of the Government of Barbados in respecting International Law, including the Zone of Peace, dialogue mechanisms and the Charter of the United Nations.

‎En his speech, the minister reiterated with concern the hostile policy promoted by the United States (USA) against the Bolivarian homeland. “We are facing a U.S. military deployment in the Caribbean Sea, which is around all Caribbean islands, including Barbados, that threatens the peace of peoples,” he stressed.

‎Respecto to the alliances between the two nations, Gil mentioned that important projects have been developed in the economic, cultural, political and transport areas.

‎El ambassador of Barbados, Aquinas J. Clarke, noted that Bridgetown has the will to establish solid strategic links with Venezuela for shared development and build “a strong block of unity and common well-being.”

Both countries established diplomatic relations on September 25, 1969.
