The Minister of Popular
Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, reiterated this Friday the
non-compliance with the fundamental principles of the work of the Office of the
High Commissioner of the United Nations (UN) for Human
Rights (DDHH), and therefore demanded respect for the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
Through his
account on the social network X, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister reiterated that cooperation
with the South American nation “must be aimed at strengthening public
institutions and not at discrediting them with the intention of protecting them”, referring to the actions of this UN body
in defense of conspiratorial actions against the Homeland.
“Venezuela is a sovereign
nation that requires respect for its sovereignty and the founding charter of the
United Nations,” Gil said in his repeated response to the statement of the UN
High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, regarding the arrest of Rocío San Miguel, accused
of being linked to the “White Bracelet” magnicidal plan, with which it was intended to assassinate
President of the Republic,
Nicolás Maduro.
The minister
noted that “the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human
Rights violated fundamental principles in its work and took a biased
stance in the face of serious events, such as the assassination attempt and the frustrated
plans to sweep Venezuelan institutions and the peace of Venezuelans and Venezuelan women.”
At a
press conference at Casa Amarilla Antonio José de Sucre, the Venezuelan diplomat announced this
Thursday the decision of the Bolivarian Government to suspend the activities of the Technical Advisory
Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
operating in Caracas, with 72 hours for officials of this body to leave the country.
