“Today, Venezuela has won a great victory within the United Nations. The Security Council demonstrated that no country in the world, not even the historic allies of the United States, endorses the use or threat of the use of force, in violation of the UN Charter, to subdue a free and sovereign nation under the false pretext of combating drug trafficking,” said the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, on his account of the social network Telegram.

This was highlighted when referring to the intervention of the permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations (UN), Samuel Moncada, in the Emergency Session requested by Venezuela in the Security Council of this body, to evaluate the aggressions of the United States against the country.

In this regard, he stated that “it became clear that the threat or use of force against Venezuela, in violation of the Peace Zone of Latin America and the Caribbean, responds to a colonial logic, driven by Washington under the Monroe Doctrine.”

He also highlighted that the offshore piracy used to appropriate Venezuela's oil resources, which belong inalienable to its people, was condemned.

“The intervention of Ambassador Samuel Moncada was brilliant, who rigorously dismantled all the lies of the United States Government and gave a lesson in the historical dignity of Bolivarian Venezuela,” he said.
