As part of his participation in the XIX Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (MNOAL), which is being held in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, the Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, met this Friday with his counterpart from the Republic of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

During the meeting, both foreign ministers discussed strengthening bilateral relations in areas of interest, such as economic and energy, in addition to ratifying their mutual support in multilateral spaces.

Recently, the Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, Tatiana Pugh Moreno, met with the Indian ambassador to the South American nation, Ashok Babu, with whom she evaluated the formalization of cooperation alliances, in addition to exchanging ideas about global conjunctures and the challenges that arise in 2024.

During the 15th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the BRICS countries, which took place in South Africa in August 2023, Venezuela was accepted as a member of the emerging block, founded by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, of which Caracas aspires to become a permanent member.

Caracas and New Delhi established diplomatic relations in 1959, a year since which both countries have maintained solid ties of friendship and strategic commercial cooperation, characterized by cordiality, complementarity and mutual respect between peoples.

The two nations have also been focused on working to strengthen other issues of common interest in the energy, agronomy, health, culture and economy sectors.
