The Minister of People's
Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, met this Wednesday in
Uganda with his counterpart from Iran, Seyed Abás Araqchi, as part of his
participation in the Intermediate Summit of Ministers of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (MNOAL).
During the
meeting, both foreign ministers reaffirmed their Governments'
firm commitment to the MNOAL, “a block of cooperation and multilateralism, which puts at the
forefront the needs and proposals of the Global South, while at the same time strongly rejecting
colonialism and imperialism.”
Through his Telegram
channel, the Venezuelan diplomat stressed that the MNOAL - made up
of 120 countries from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and two from Europe - “re-emerges as a true
bulwark of multilaterality.”
The bloc is
governed by the Bandung Principles, which include respect for sovereignty and territorial
integrity, equality between nations and non-interference in the internal affairs
of other countries.
