This Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, the Science Museum opened its doors to the 4th edition of the Craft Market organized by the Red Art Foundation, which paid homage to two of the most emblematic manifestations of the Venezuelan Intangible Cultural Heritage: San Juan and San Pedro.

During this cultural day, the Market set out to show Venezuelan craftsmanship, promoting the visibility and commercialization of crafts as a quality product with a generational history.

One of the most outstanding activities were the artisanal gatherings, which consisted of demonstration talks with the invited artisans. The young Nicol Argento, an artisan from the state of Amazonas, enchanted the public with her unique mustard creations, making necklaces, earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Meanwhile, sisters Gladys and Maritza Urbina exhibited their crochet technique, creating long necklaces decorated with flowers, inspired by the festivities of Saint John and Saint Peter.

The ceramist Emilio Esposito brought a sound dimension to the gatherings with his pieces in the shape of birds, evoking the warmth of the ancient. For their part, the representatives of Numisbooks showed various collections of medals, coins, banknotes and sports works from the last 70 years. “Children deserve to know the first banknotes and coins that circulated in the country, and here we have copies from 1800 and 1811,” said Moisés Mejías.

In addition, the companions of “Honey and Panela” explored the derivatives of honey, from wax to soaps, highlighting the healing properties of this sweet product.

The little ones also had their space, they enjoyed making Caballitos de San Juan under the guidance of teacher Carmen García, who explained that, in the state of Bolívar, these little horses visit the homes of those who are named Juana and Juan, sharing candies and blessings.

The atmosphere was filled with life with the rhythm of the drums and the sound of the group “Sound Mixture Projection”, which encouraged the audience with popular songs that have accompanied the celebrations of San Juan and San Pedro for generations.
